Merge Farewell

On Wednesday, we had my farewell dinner with the Merge family. We ate some down home Texas BBQ at Rudy's, which also sells gasoline (outside). Here you can see the directors and some of their families, as well as a great street sign on the wall.

It was very encouraging and affirming to hear the other directors share at our last meal together. I leave Merge pleased with my role and hopeful for the capable hands carrying the ministry into the future.

Twelve Years

Twelve years ago today, I stepped down. I went to the baseball stadium more out of novelty than need that night, curious to see how a crusade worked. The words that were spoken have slipped from my memory. I do remember how fast my heart was beating as I made my way from my seat down to the field. There was relief after the revelation of my situation: thinking I knew Someone and was devoted to Him when I only knew about Him and realized my desire for Him. It was as if the curtain was lifted, the lights were turned up, the haze was burned away by the rising sun, the fogged glasses were wiped clean. It was time for me to get up and leave my seat. No, I'm not talking about my seat in the stadium. I mean the control chair in the command center of my life. If I didn't step down, how else could Jesus direct and guide my life?

First Post

Here we are, 5 years after 9/11, and I'm beginning a blog.

I thought I would avoid this fad, but need it as a transition from writing a monthly update for the last three years that went out to over 800 people. I doubt this will be as popular.
