Road Trip West: Day 1: South Texas
We checked out of our apartment this morning, ran errands in the afternoon, and ended up leaving McAllen, TX at 4p. Only 4 hours behind schedule. Not too bad.
The Vue (vehicle) is packed beyond our expectations. We may have to drop a few items here and there, or re-pack. The ride is smooth and the company is great.
We killed an estimated three thousand butterflies on the drive up US-281 from McAllen to San Antonio. Sorry, little guys.
As it turns out there is an Apple Store (iPod, Mac, etc.) in San Antonio that was on our way out of the city. To Andrew's delight, we arrived 30 minutes before the store closed. To Jen's delight, there were only 30 minutes until closing. Our new iPod needed a protective case.
We made it to Fredericksburg, Texas and stayed in a Days Inn to get a good night's sleep after a busy last week and weekend. We're headed for Carlsbad Caverns N.P. in New Mexico.
