We awoke at the Days Inn in Fredericksberg and saw our car in the parking lot. And no others. So we realized the non-refundable reservation we made on the phone last night was rather pointless. Oh well.
We walked around town in the morning, stopping for wine tasting, chocolate making and weiner schnitzel (in that order). We admitted that we don't know anything about tasting wine; the lesson was free! The wine also tasted quite different from the other wines we have had; this wine has no added sugar or acids. It was very smooth.
We drove out on I-10 and had absolutely no Nextel cell phone coverage all day long! But we did have a speed limit that was rather agreeable. We saw a windmill farm, for harvesting electricity. That's an encouraging site for an oil-dependent nation.
We crossed into New Mexico and are now on Mountain Time. We're a few miles away from Carlsbad Caverns and set up our tent in the dark quite nicely. The Carlsbad RV Park & Campground has free wireless internet and clean bathrooms. What else can we ask for?
Today we saw desert hills and plateaus that were breathtaking and also barren, deserted towns that made you feel like you were all alone in the world. In all this, God reminded us how his world is bigger and his plan is greater than what we can see.

Sounds like the caverns are beautiful and I am so glad to hear you may have an appreciation for vino that surpasses wine spritzers!!!
